Intersectionality
Although We ground our foundational principles in Chicano values and uplifting our working class Raza; BBO believes and understands in the importance of uplifting ALL oppressed people's voices in a system that constantly wants to "drown" us OUT. We understand that on a deeper lever, we are all connected in a global struggle in this human experience and the only path to liberation is unity/solidarity.
Sadly the majority of our society, foolishly (and willingly) continue to "swim" with the current of this system. For many reasons, whether out of comfort or convenience; either way, when you begin to navigate through the turbulent waters of this existence, you'll begin to uncover so many more, larger interconnected issues in this "immense ocean" of societal problems locally, nationally and (ultimately) globally.
The Brown Beret Organization believes that if we work together, we can create a "new ocean"(figuratively) of connections that boost and empower each other. We can only use our voices and demand what is already rightfully so ours; the right to free educational forms, better opportunities ( jobs, better salaries, more community resources, more home owning opportunities, etc.), and to demand a more just and equitable society. By doing so, we can break free from the chains of oppression and build a brighter future for all.
Here are some key points to remember:
- The system we live in wants to silence marginalized voices, but we can speak out against it. Uplift all political prisoners, never forget them.
- Different struggles, like the Black movement, Palestinian struggle, the fight against femicide, prevalent sexism and the advocation for prison abolition, and many more struggles/causes - are all connected.
- These struggles all aim to challenge the same oppressive systems that silence marginalized voices and deny them their basic human rights.
- By working together and using our voices, we can create a more just and equitable society.
- Everyone has a part to play in this struggle, and together we can build a brighter future for all.
The Brown Beret Organization invites you to join us in this fight for justice and equality.
