Requirements (Acuerdos) for Vending at the Chicano Moratorium:
This is a Chicano event, vending is only permitted for Indigenous/Chicano vendors and our allies. Indigenous/Chicano vendors are given priority and the space is free. For allied non Indigenous/Chicano vendors, the price is a $25 donation.
Vendors must be people who align with our political/ideological position of Chicanismo, Indigeneity, resistance, and self-determination, and are anti-colonial, anti-imperial, anti-fascist.
Vendors must be in good standing in the community, no serious allegations of sexual misconduct or abuse.
Items sold or advertised must not promote capitalist corporate interest, or supporting the American establishment (i.e., Dodgers, Starbucks, Democrats, Republicans, etc.)
No drugs, alcohol, or weapons may be sold, displayed, or used at the event.
Each Vendor will be given a 12x12 space and must be kept within that space, no exceptions! Space is limited so be respectful and look out for your fellow vendors.
We want to help you raise the level of professionalism of your business. Bring a canopy, table, banner with your business name, business cards or fliers to promote yourself, and free handouts of inexpensive items that will draw customers to your booth (i.e. snacks, candies, water bottles, keychains, pictures, knicks knacks, etc.). We are making this event free for you, which will save you $100-200 that other places charge, use that money to give back to the community and promote your business!
Although it is free for you, if you have a successful day and would like to donate to the NCMC to continue doing our work, please feel free.
Law enforcement, current or past, are ABSOLUTELY NOT ALLOWED anywhere at this event.
Lastly, we are prioritizing Vendors first, then Chicano/Indigenous community organizations, then non-indigenous Chicano allies. We would like to fit everyone in, but if there is no room, then we apologize, but we reserve the right to include who we feel will best serve the community's interest and the event program.
May Huitzilopochtli prosper you, protect you, and guide you in all your ways!
